The hidden face of Lithuania

5th March 2015. The second time I got the "Oscar" to the teacher with "best sense of humour". Days later the Lithuanian Security Department (VSD) forced the Rectorate of Vytautas Magnus University to "remove" me from my job.

My name is Miquel. I was born in Barcelona. For 5 years I was teaching Spanish and Catalan languages at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) (http://www.vdu.lt ) a public university of Kaunas (Lithuania). I created the Spanish Club Miguel de Cervantes and the festival "Primavera en Español" (http://www.ispanuklubas.lt) that are cultural projects that promote the Spanish language and culture in that university. The Lithuanian security services (VSD) contacted the Rectorate. The VSD agents wanted me to close my facebook account. I was posting on my private facebook account information, pictures and my point of view on the Ukrainian conflict and against the militar operations conducted by the forces of Poroshenko in Eastern Ukraine. They told me that I had to choose between freedom of speech or bread. And I chose the first option. The only decent option. Other teachers and professors have been removed from their job position or threatened by the Lithuanian security services for posting on social media their point of view on foreign affairs and against the Ukrainian maidan. I have been substituted by one of my former students, who was president of the Spanish club I created and who spent some months of Erasmus in Alicante and took one month course of Spanish for foreigners in Zaragoza. She even started to teach Spanish when she was still a student of sociology in the same institution that hired her as a teacher of Spanish language. A person that would not be able to teach Spanish language in any university in the world since she is not native and had not any bachelor degree in Spanish philology or pedagogics and any previous experience. But that it looks that has a excellent personal relationship with my former boss. A shameful episode of corruption, political repression and nepotism in a country that looks unable to forget its old totalitarian past.  Unable to embrance fully the set of values (academic freedom, freedom of speech and thought) of more mature and advanced western democracies.

Me llamo Miquel.

There are a lot of articles, videos, and material on the maidan bloody coup and the civil war in Eastern Ukraine. I just recommend this video broadcasted by Canal Plus (France) where the popular French documentalist Paul Moreira analyses the maidan coup and the Odessa massacre. The documentary was broadcasted in prime time by Canal Plus France (subtitles in English).

Also I recommend this report broadcasted by MATRIX (TV5) one of the most popular TV shows in Italy. The report includes interviews to three Georgian snipers that were involved in the massacre of the maidan events. In the massacre were also Lithuanian snipers
.

Also I recommend this conference organized by the American University in Bulgaria (AUB) where Johanna Granville, Fullbright Lecturer, explained to the sdudents what the western media are hiding on the US backed maidan coup against the Ukrainian democracy. The conference can be found here:
